Is ECHPS for men and women?
Yes. We place men and women in European universities and hockey programs.
How much does it cost to attend a European university and play hockey?
For the 2024-2025 season the average cost of attending an English speaking university in Europe, with tuition, books, room, and board averaged $12,000 for a year total. Some programs were a little more, and some a little less depending on the country and local economy.
How much does ECHPS service cost?
ECHPS charges a one time fee of $1500 USD. Included in that fee are all costs associated with finding you a university, and a team to play on while attending that university. It is a three step process. First you declare your major, we give you a list of universities offering your chosen option, and then you pick your university. Second, you apply for admissions with our assistance. Third, we place you on the university team, or on a team in your chosen city if the university does not have an official hockey team. Application fee’s, visa fee’s and other items needed are not covered in the ECHPS fee.
Does ECHPS guarantee placement?
Yes. We guarantee placement on a team once you are accepted and enrolled in a university.
Is Europe safe?
Yes. Europe is very safe, and has a much lower crimae rate than the United States.
What are the living accomodations like?
This can be varied from city to city. Most accomodations are as we would have in North America. Two players to a room or apartment.
What is the hockey like?
The hockey in Europe, as far as level of play is compared to North America would be on average at an NCAA D-3 or ACHA D-1 level. Some players would be at an NCAA D-1 level if playing in North America. Student athletes who aspire to play professionally can do so while attending their chosen university.
Some players will chose to play professionally while finishing their studies. The level of play for those players will be somewhere between the ECHL and AHL.
The hockey system in Europe does not prevent players from playing professionally while attending a university. Ninety five percent of players who play professionally in Europe do so after playing junior, or college hockey in Europe.
Do I need to speak another language?
No. All universities offer classes and degree’s in the English language.
Can you help with getting European citizenship?
Yes. If your ancestry is from Europe, we can in most cases help you secure dual citizenship. The process and costs vary from country to country, but we can usually secure citizenship within a year to eighteen months. Some countries are quicker and can take as little as three months.
What about a visa?
We assist with the visa, or temporary residency application and approval process to ensure your stay in the European Union or Scandinavia is legal.
